Goodsprings
Goodsprings was first established in 1886. The mines in the Goodsprings area produced mainly lead and zinc. In April 1899 a post office was established. By 1904 about 200 people lived at the mines.
The first Goodsprings School was established in 1907 in a tent. Miss Winifred Hardy was the teacher. The Goodsprings School District also operated a school at Jean from 1917 to at least 1920.
After a number of moves, the present school building was erected in 1913. Now on the National Register, it is the oldest school in Clark County that was built as a school and is still used as a school.
While Education in the Neon Shadow features a section on Goodsprings, not all of the Archive Committee's collection fit into the publication.
