Mesquite

Mesquite is in the north-eastern corner of Clark County. In light of the abundance of mesquite trees, the Mormon colonists who settled the area called the place Mesquite Flat. Initially, the area was difficult to settle given the Virgin River's floods. The name of the community was later shortened to Mesquite and the city was incorporated in May of 1984. While Education in the Neon Shadow features a section on Mesquite, not all of the Archive Committee's collection fit into the publication.
