On April 27, 1946, a bond issue for $1.5 million was passed. Issue one for $950,000 went to the Las Vegas high school district for the purpose of the construction of new classrooms, a new gymnasium, athletic stadium, cafeteria, auditorium, shops and museum, as well as improving the existing facilities. The second issue for $550,000 went to the grammar school district for the construction of a new school building to replace the temporary structure at the John S. Park School and improving the grounds.
